County Voice

Northumberland County · Pledges close October 15

We asked Richmond to invest in Callao. Now let’s invest in each other.

Every winter, households all over the county buy propane one at a time, at whatever price is posted. We’ve never tried buying together. Add your house: the more neighbors who join, the stronger the case we can bring to dealers for a better price, and you only say yes if the price is right.

Organized by neighbors, not by the county or a propane company.

Add my house

Takes a minute. No account, no money, no contract.

1 household so far · about 500 gallons a year

How it works

  1. Neighbors pledgeNow

Now through October 15. Roughly how much you use, and who fills your tank.

  2. We ask for bids

The total goes to the dealers who serve Northumberland, and locally owned ones get the chance to match the best.

  3. You see the price, then decide

We contact you with the price. Tell us you're in and the dealer calls to set up your delivery.

What you’re agreeing to

  • Nobody here collects money. The dealer bills you directly, same as now.
  • A pledge isn't a contract. You see the price first.
  • Your name and number go to a dealer only if you tell us you're in — never before, and never sold.
  • The group price includes 1¢ a gallon for County Voice, for running this. It's on the offer, and if you don't take the offer, you pay nothing.

If the company owns your tank, only they can fill it. You still count — we’ll ask your company to match the group price.

Why it matters

The better deal needs your neighbors.

One house gets the posted price. Three hundred houses can ask for a real offer. You can't ask for this deal alone, and nobody else can ask without you.

We don't have to wait on anyone.

No application, no vote, no deadline in Richmond. Just neighbors deciding to buy together, starting this fall.

Times are tight, and this is money we already spend.

We're not asking anyone to spend a dollar more. We're asking to spend what we already spend together, and keep more of it at home.

It's the first thing, not the only thing.

If a few hundred houses can do this with propane, the next thing gets easier to do together.

Pass it on

The more houses, the stronger the case we can bring to dealers. Send the link to one neighbor who heats with propane, or tap Share at the top and let them scan the code off your screen.

Every 10¢ off a gallon keeps $50 a year in Northumberland, and that grows with every house.
